Cougars grab another area 2010 recruit in Messer

6’5 Lafayette High School C/O 2010 standout Michael Messer decided that

Southern Illinois-Edwardsville would be his home to play basketball after

high school as he gave head coach Lennox Forrester and Assistant Coach

Mark Allaria a commitment on Monday. SIUE has been on a real roll the

past week as Messer is the third commitment for the Cougars in less than

a week. Messer joins fellow area standout Gerald Jones of Berkeley and 6’9

Herrin, Il star Alex Brown to commit to the Cougars.

Messer who has had a very solid high school career playing in the shadows

the three years of one of the areas best players in Tyler Griffey (who graduated

last year) but still the very skilled Messer put up 11 points and 3 assists per game last season for the Lancers. This year Messer will be the go to guy for the Lancers and has made the most of it lately.

Messer who is long and can play up to three positions well, really helped his stock after a strong summer of AAU with the Gateway Basketball Club and in August and September with real strong showings at several top camps including the Rivals.com Future 150 camp in Chicago early October. Messer who becomes the 2nd player from Gateway Basketball Club to commit to a D1 school this year and is the areas 7th overall D1 commit in the class of 2010 is a player that is a lights out shooter that can create his own shot and come off picks to knock down shots and is expected to be one of the areas top scorers this upcoming season. . Cougars get their #1 guy in Jones 11/4/2009

6’0 McCluer-South Berkeley High School and Team Rameybasketball.com AAU Class of 2010 team member Gerald Jones jr. committed to Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville of the Ohio Valley Conference on Wednesday. Jones chose the Cougars over offers from: Tennessee State, Eastern Illinois, SEMO and strong interest from others.

Jones is a tenacious player that plays very hard on both ends of the court and is a stat sheet stuffer as he averaged 16 points, 10 rebounds, 6 assists, and 5 steals a game last year for a Berkeley team that went 16-10. Jones is always in attack mode and is almost unstoppable when attacking the basket. Jones showed this summer a much improved jumper where on the AAU circuit with Team Rameybasketball.com where he played the last two summers and garnered major recruiting attention on the circuit with his play.

Jones who plays for his dad coach Gerald “Dink” Jones at Berkeley credits the hard work that Head Coach Lennox Forrester and Assistant Coach Mark Allaria put in, in making him feel wanted and like he was their top priority in which Jones indeed was. SIUE offered Jones after his junior year and made it their point to show him as much attention as they could. Jones also credits a great visit this past weekend and new that this was a place that he felt comfortable with and that he could earn early playing time. Jones becomes Team Rameybasketball.com 5th C/O of 2010 player to commit to a D1 school and the areas 6th overall. We here at Rameybasketball.com want to congratulate Gerald Jones who ratnks as one of the top C/O 2010 prospects in the state of Missouri and the entire Jones family.

 6’10 Ryan Pierson is off the Board 10/25/2009

Northeastern University and head coach Bill Coen of the Colonial Athletic Association have landed 6’10 Class of 2010 CBC star Ryan Pierson of Team Rameybasketball.com. Pierson enjoyed a wonderful official visit this weekend and fell in love with the campus in Boston, Mass. Pierson choose Northeastern over offers from Austin Peay, Tennessee-Martin, Loyola, IL, SIUE, Murray State, Detroit, Holy Cross, SEMO, Milwaukee-Wisconsin, Ball State and strong interest from:TCU, Eastern Kentucky, James Madison, Illinois State and Southern Illinois.  

Pierson becomes the fourth member of a stellar Team Ramey AAU basketball 17U team to commit to a Division 1 program after this summer and the fifth area class of 2010 player in total. Pierson who has developed into a solid mid to high major prospect with his hard work on and off the court, begin to really turn heads after a strong July on the AAU circuit and strong workouts at several camps throughout the summer and fall. Pierson has massive size and good athletic ability and loves to play physical on both ends of the court. Pierson has great post moves and finishes well with either hand and has great shooting range with range out to three.

Assistant Coach Antonio Reynolds-Dean was a prime catalyst in the recruiting efforts in landing Pierson which is considered a major recruiting coup for Northeastern that finished 19-13 last season and made it to the quarterfinals of D1 College Basketball Invitational tourney and is currently ranked as one of the top 60 Division 1 teams in every preseason poll, but at the end of the day Pierson loved the schools environment, coaching staff, teammates, and everything that Northeastern had to offer. Pierson will look to lead a strong CBC team this upcoming season.

Harms is off the board

6’9 Belleville Althoff High School Class of 2010 post player Joe Harms has committed to Austin Peay University of the Ohio Valley Conference today after a strong visit this past weekend in Clarksville, Tn.

Harms who just came off a very strong AAU campaign with Team Rameybasketball.com will join fellow Metro East and Team Rameybasketball.com member Will Triggs of Edwardsville High School.

Harms is a hard nosed post player with a very strong face up game and good range out to three. Harms plays hard every position and leaves everything on the floor and is highly skilled. Harms is a lefty and has good athleticism and loves to utilize his lefty jump hook. Harms looks to lead Althoff one step further as they made it to the quarterfinals last season and they return a very strong nucleus. Harms who chose the Governors over strong interest from: IUPUI, Tennessee-Martin, Eastern Kentucky, Quincy, and Washington University becomes the third member of a strong Team Rameybasketball.com AAU team to commit to a Division 1 school so far this year and the fourth area prospect overall. Harms ranks as one of the top prospect in the areas class of 2010.

Scheer to Mo State

6’4 Borgia High School class of 2010 standout Nathan Scheer is headed to Springfield, MO to play is collegiate ball as he chose to play next year for Head Coach Cuonzo Martin and the Missouri State Bears of the Missouri Valley Conference. Scheer who is a very versatile player with a great work ethic and one of the premier shooters in the state help lead Borgia to a Class 4A state title last season with a 28-3 record with an average of 16 points & 5 rebounds per game. Scheer also earned a strong reputation while playing AAU the last three summers with the Gateway Basketball Club.
