Class of 2011 Battle 4 the Rankings Recap Part 2

Rameybasketball.com takes a detailed look at the 2009 Battle 4 the Rankings Basketball Showcase Class of 2011 participants. Click here for complete recap.

An incredible showing from the areas Class of 2011 as we saw play after play and over 15 players that we feel can play at the Division 1 level. This group had the crowd in a frenzy throughout the event with their stellar play.


•Darion Rackley6’2CBC (pictured)

Rackley has arrived as one of the elite players in this class as he showed the ability to slash to the basket, dunk over defenders, and hit the long range jumpers with great consistancy. Rackley who dethroned last year champ Ben McClemore to win this years event Slam Dunk Contest is a very smooth player that scores the ball with ease. One of the top 10 prospects in this class.

•Jaronn Jones6’3Career Academy

Jones was dunking and attacking the entire event and thrilled many onlookers and coaches with his ability. Jones is a strong wing that also hit several jumpers in this event and was one of the top performers in this event for this class.

•Trae Anderson6’3Hazelwood Central

Anderson is a strong bodied wing with great athletic ability and showcased the ability to drive hard to the basket and finish. Anderson takes contact while attacking the rim and finish.

•Will Childs Klein6’10Ladue (pictured)

Child Klein is rapidly developing into a premier post player and prospect for the area as he is very long and athletic and has a great shooting touch with range out to three. We saw him get several dunks in the half court set that shows his increasing strength and athletic ability.

•Joshua Bouie5’9O’Fallon

Bouie is a smart guard that didn’t disappoint in this event with his ability to run a team and make plays for teammates. Bouie was always under control in making plays for teammates and hit open jump shots in games we saw. Bouie is a very smart player.

•Darrien Harris5’8Truman

Making the trek up from Kansas City Harris was a speed burner that got out in transition to create offense for himself and others. Harris has a unique release on his jumper but hit several perimeter shots.

•Roosevelt Jones6’3O’Fallon

When tallying up the stats Jones could have easily scored the most points throughout the event as buckets came easy for the physically strong and highly skilled Jones. We love the way Jones plays under control and makes the easy plays and makes teammates better. Jones used his strength to have his way with guards in this event.

•Sam Stix6’6Holt (pictured)

Stix hit several long ranged bombs in this event and is easily one of the premier shooters in this class. Stix although thin showed the ability to score around the basket and rebound in traffic.

•Dorian Dean6’1Career Academy

Dean did a good job in pushing the ball to set up teammates for easy buckets. Dean showed great court vision and a high basketball IQ. Dean also attacked the rim with regularity and showed the ability to hit jumpers out to three with constancy.

•Randy Reed6’4Crossroads

We came away very impressed with Reed who showed good ball handling ability and attacked the rim for some very impressive finishes. Reed is very athletic and loves to play above the rim. Didn’t shoot it well from the perimeter but played with a high motor and made a lot of positive plays on both ends of the court.

•Terron Edmonds5’11Cahokia

A strong lead guard that showed a great shooting touch with great range. Edmonds is physically gifted and very confident and loves to attack the defense at every give chance.

•Tim Starks5’9Parkway North (pictured)

Starks was very comfortable handling and shooting the ball at this event. Starks got the ball out on the break and either scored well or made the right play to set up teammates as Starks has a very strong basketball IQ.

•Mogboluwaga Oginni6’8SLUH

A super mega athlete that jumps out of the gym Oginni also scored well with his back to the basket. Oginni is at his best running and finishing in transition and is a good shot blocker. Also hit several drop step jump hooks off the block.

•Darris Smith5’10Hazelwood West

Smith is a very confident and smooth player that scores in bunches. Smith is also very athletic and quick and shoots the ball lights out with range out to three. Smith also showed the ability to make plays for teammates. We think Smith is the sleeper of this class and maybe the best player that no one talks about.

•Kendall Shell6’2Webster Groves (pictured)

Shell was always under control at this event and hit several long range jumpers with ease. Shell is also a stellar defender that disrupted several offensive players throughout this event. Shell also handled the ball at times to get his offense going.

•Charles Conway5’10Cardinal Ritter

Conway is a smart point guard that ran his team well and looked to pass first throughout this event. Also was very vocal in getting his teammates involved and in position to score. Conway also showed a much improved jump shot and quickness. Conway got into lane and also utilized a strong mid range pull up jumper.

•Orlando Johnson6’2Imagine Academy

Johnson was passive at this event but did however at times score well slashing to the basket and on the offensive glass. Johnson is a wing that has a decent handle that allows him to use a quick first step to get to the basket and finish.

•De’Aris Tate6’6McCluer

Tate showed of his long and athletic frame that allowed him to finish several plays over defenders. Tate also had a couple on nice dunks in transition. Tate is also a good shot blocker.

•JR Alexander6’0Ft. Zumwalt South

Alexander hit a couple of jumpers from the perimeter at this event and looked confident on several more with good form although they didn’t fall. Alexander also looked very confident attacking the basket off the dribble.

•Kalib Jordan6’4Cardinal Ritter

Jordan is an athletic player that runs the floor well and has good hands. Didn’t score much at this event but competed at a high level.

•John Dailey6’4Hazelwood Central

A physically strong player that played just like that at this event as he looked to power up at every given chance. Dailey also attempted several dunks over defenders throughout the event.
