Class of 2013 recap
A strong showing from the areas Class of 2013 at the 4th Annual Rameybasketball.com Battle 4 the Rankings Showcase as we saw a couple of good post prospects that showed great upside and we saw several good guard players that we are very intrigued to see develop over the years. 9/24/2009
•Malcolm Hill jr6’2Belleville East High School (pictured)
Hill took home the class of 2013 MVP award at the showcase and showed off great poise, movement without the ball, shooting touch with range out to three, and an incredible
basketball IQ. Hill scored off the bounce and made the right plays to set up his
teammates and easily averaged close to 20 a game throughout the event without ever
taking a bad shot. This is not bad for a kid that will easily be a mid major recruit before
he is done and at 14 years old is suppose to be in the 8th grade instead of being a
freshman as he received a double advancement in middle school because of high test scores. Hill is the son of former longtime Normandy Boys Basketball Coach Malcolm Hill who currently serves as Normandy High School Athletic Director.
•Miles Nettles6’2Career Academy High School
A long and gifted athlete Nettles was at his best in transition and on the offensive glass. Nettles long arms caused problems and once his athleticism and strength picks up he should develop into a nice prospect. Has a nice jump shot with decent range out to three.
•Jason Kusnerick5’9Collinsville High School (pictured)
Sporting a lethal shooting touch with great range out to three, Kusnerick who is the son
of former Collinsville Boys Basketball Coach and current Kahok Athletic Director has a
great understanding of the game and sports a high basketball IQ. Kusnerick also
handles the ball well against pressure and made several plays for teammates
throughout the games we saw.
•Phillip Bowdry5’11Desmet High School
A strong and physical player that handled the ball well for the strength he also used to gain advantages and score around the basket. Bowdry played hard and also hit several jump shots throughout the day.
•Jim Barton5’6Webster Groves High School (pictured)
A very smart player that was a dream to play with as several of his teammates praised
him for setting them up for easy shots. Barton is a long range bomber also is a very
good ball handler that uses a good strong handle to gain separation against
opponents. Barton sports a strong basketball IQ.
•Patrick Smith jr5’7Belleville East High School
A small and quick player that hit some jump shots in games we saw and got after it on the defensive end. Smith who was very passive in this event does show promises and a strong understanding of the game and once strength is added Smith should develop into a good player.
•Kaleahl Ferguson5’8Belleville West High School (pictured)
A lethal scorer that scored many buckets throughout the event in many ways. Ferguson
is quick and has a good stroke and very good mid range game. Ferguson is also
athletic and confident at getting to the basket and ranks as one of the top players in his
class.
•Devaughn Lawrence5’8O’Fallon High School
A smooth and quick player that handled the ball well and made good plays when given chances. Lawrence is also very confident player that is always in attack mode.
•Nolan Berry6’6Desmet High School (pictured)
We really liked what Berry showed at this event and with added strength could be one of
the top 3 prospects in this class. Long and very athletic Berry showcased good touch on offense and a great understanding of the game as he never forced the action and took
what the defense gave him. Berry is very unselfish and altered several shot with his long
wing span. Keep an eye on Berry over the course of his high school career.
•Shawn Roundtree5’4Crossroads Middle School
The only 8th grader in the event was also one of the top players in this division playing up. Roundtree is a small guard that has an incredible feel for the game and a very good shooting touch. Roundtree plays on both ends of the court and is comfortable running a team. Easily one of the top 8th graders in the area.
•Terrance Davis6’2McCluer North High School (pictured)
Davis was one of favorite players in the entire event as he goes as hard as anyone and
always seems to be enjoying every minute. Davis is a power perimeter player that uses
a good enough shooting touch to draw the defensive out so he can use his strength
and confidence to attack the rim. This lefty will have a very productive high school career basically because of his confidence and ability.
•Deon Davis5’11Career Academy High School
Long and lean guard that shoots the ball well enough and competes at a high level. Davis will need to get stronger and define his position over the years but has a very high upside. Davis scored by slashing to the hoop and hitting several long range jump shots.
•Jordan Swopshire6’5Fort Zumwalt South High School (pictured)
Swopshire has the highest upside and might turnout to be the highest recruited player in
this class as he is very athletic and scores very well facing the basket. Long and lean Swopshire ran the floor for many transition buckets and also rebounded well on both
ends. With added strength Swopshire should have no problems following in his brothers footsteps and maybe passing him up. Was a close second in the MVP voting to Hill jr.
•Eric Clark5’8Imagine Academy High School
Clark has a lot game bottled up and showed it at times but was also very passive at this event. Clark has a very strong handle and loves to create off the dribble and has a chance to be very good.
•Jordan Martin6’6Hazelwood Central High School (pictured)
Martin is a long post player that has good touch and hands around the basket and is one
of the top prospects in this class. Martin ran the floor well and has very good athletic
ability. We also liked what we saw on the defensive end from Martin as altered and
rejected numerous shot attempts.
•Jeremiah Price6’2Imagine Academy High School
Price is what we call a garbage man as he scored on several put backs and rebounded the ball very well. Price also looked to attack off the dribble when giving chances. Price is a high energy guy.
