Fall League wk 3 recap

9/21/2008

A day after the 3rd Annual Battle 4 the Rankings Showcase, the Rameybasketball.com continued with week three and several top individual performances stood out and some really great games.

Game 1

Bulls 79 vs Wizards 76

In a game that had both teams tied for first place and featured three

of the league top scorers, it did not disappoint. 6’6 Missouri State

commit and Miller Career Academy wing Jerome Jones put on a

show enroot to scoring a game high 36 points in the three point

victory. Jones also dished out several good assists to teammates

that really made the difference. Senior sharpshooters Andy Schilkoski

of St. Dominic and Dylan Briscoe also came up big chipping in with 12 and 14 points in the narrow victory. In the defeat super sophomores BJ Young (pictured) of Hazelwood Central (34 points) and Shaquille Boga of McCluer (28 points) tried their best to get the victory for the Wizards but their effort came up just short. Young is very exciting to watch and I will go on record to say that I don’t think anyone in this area can guard this kid.

Game 2

Pistons 80 vs Cavs 79

In game 2 of the day the surging Pistons were riding a 2 game winning streak after dropping their first 2 games but got a big blow when 6’4 Missouri State commit Keith Pickens sprung his ankle last week at an open gym at school and will miss the remainder of the league but go a boast from McCluer North senior Bobby Peebles who scored 15 points in his first league game today. The story of the day was big 6’7 Lafayette senior Will Kirksey who was just totally unstoppable today enroot to scoring a league high 42 points. Every point was needed in the victory and Kirksey ran the floor well and controlled the paint. He also connected on an impressive 9-13 free throws in the victory. 6’0 Pattonville freshman Danny Kranz shot the ball well today going 3/5 from three point area and hit a big three with under a minute. In the defeat 6’0 Ritenour junior Cory Allen (28 points) and 6’2 Oakville junior Torrano Hellums (20 points) both brought their A game. Missing leading scorer TJ Brown these two really stepped up. Allen has been tearing it up all summer and fall and trust me, he is one of the elite players in the class of 2010.

Game 3

Nuggets 74 vs Spurs 52

In a game that was never in doubt 6’2 Ritenour senior guard Sean Robinson continues to show everybody that he can ball. Robinson shot the ball well, attacked the rim, and just flat out scored. He has been having a tremendous fall league and should be one of the premier players in the Suburban North this season.

6’6 Lutheran North senior Joshua Armstrong is an intriguing prospect that is long and very agile. He handles the ball well and has a sweet shooting stroke. Armstrong scored a game high 26 points today in his teams loss and looked good doing so. He is a prospect that many schools need to follow.

Game 4

Lakers 67 vs Celtics 60

Well the final game of today didn’t have the same result of the NBA finals as these Lakers topped a game Celtics team that fought to the end. The Lakers used a very balance attack with five players scoring in double figures led by 6’9 Ryan Pierson of CBC 15 points. 6’3 Bryce Foster continued his tear in this league in scoring a game 25 points in the loss. Foster has a great shooting touch from deep and mid range. 6’2 Ladue junior Eli Weigley shot the ball outstanding in this game finishing with 18 points and hit 4/7 from deep. 6’2 Borgia senior standout Sean Duff who is one of the leagues top scorers was saddled by foul trouble and finished with 4 points.
