Christian Kirk Spotlight
The Kirk name is not unfamiliar with area fans as former Ft. Zumwalt West star Kyle Kirk broke many area fans hearts when his family moved from O’Fallon to Springfield, Mo and he attended Springfield Kickapoo. We now the opposite has happened, because Kyle’s younger brother and mid to high major class of 2011 prospect Christian Kirk has now left Kickapoo and is enrolled at St. Charles West High School. Christian is a highlight reel waiting to happen and will give the last years Class 4A State runner-up Warriors and head coach Terry Hollander a big boast this upcoming season. Christian will step into an already potent team that features 6’2 senior Alex Bazzell one of the class of 2009 top guard prospects. Ben McClemore Spotlight
After having a good freshman season for the then defending Class 2A state champs Wellston last season with averages of 5 points and 4 rebounds a game for a senior laden team that was the favorite to repat as state champions last season before being upset on a buzzer beater in the district championship. After a decent summer with the St. Louis Majestics the very
athletic McClemore was still a relative unknown but after a breakout performance at the recent Rameybasketball.com Battle 4 the Rankings basketball Showcase last month, McClemore is now starting to create a strong buzz amongst college coaches. At the showcase McClemore showcased incredible athletic ability, very strong offensive and defensive ability, a good shooting stroke, strong ball handling and put in a dominant performance in the three games he competed and easily sealed away the slam dunk championship. After this performance and with the event recap write ups that was sent out to over 50 division 1 coaches, McClemore has since received visits from: Missouri and Southern Illinois and strong inquiries from Illinois State, SIUE, Eastern Kentucky and more. Southern Illinois came away very impressed and offered the sophomore athlete a scholarship on the spot. Look for a breakout summer form McClemore and more suitors to follow.
6’9 Pierson looking for big junior campaign.
6’9 CBC junior Center Ryan Pierson of CBC High School is expected to have a breakout year junior for the Cadets. The physically gifted post player with a soft touch averaged 9 points and 6 rebounds a game last year in helping the Cadets post an 11-14 record. Pierson who played summer ball with the Gateway Basketball Club is currently fielding strong D1 interest from several schools in the Missouri Valley and Ohio Valley Conferences. One of Pierson’s best attributes is his pure brute strength, which allows him to easily get position on opponents on both ends of the court. A highly effective and very physical post player that is also adept at using either hand around the basket and this summer has shown the ability to hit the short jumper with range out to 15 feet. We hear at Rameybasketball.com is expecting a breakout junior year from the dominant post player.
